Training at 1st Due Senior Community
On November 26th drill, Company 52 took a trip over to Traditions of Ridley Creek Senior Community for ladder rescue, high rise hose line advancement, and elevator rescue drills. After we trained on placement of the 35′ extension ladder to the 3rd floor balconies that also simulated a 4th floor rescue, members went over stretching a 200′ 1.75 preconnected hoseline up the stair tower to the 3rd floor. With having proper Apparatus placement and hoseline advancement their was 100 feet available on the 3rd floor that gives plenty of reach to attack the fire on the 3rd floor.
Advancement of the preconnect attack hoseline up the stair tower has proved to be quicker deployment and less manpower for making the initial attack on the fire. The motto of “doing more with less.” Placement of hoseline in between the railing of the stairwell gives the hoseline a more direct shot to the attack floor and also clears the stairwell for any seniors who are evacuating from the upper floors. The Quint’s Aerial ladder also was in service with reaching various spots on the building. To wrap up, members went over elevator rescue scenarios and how operate if the situation were to occur.
Awesome training opportunity for fire company and thank you for letting us come out!
